Infrastructure and business finance

Business marketing, attraction, expansion, and retention

Community development

While rapid technological developments have provided vast areas of new opportunity and potential sources of efficiency for organisations of all sizes, these new technologies have also brought unprecedented threats with them. Cyber security – defined as the protection of systems, networks and data in cyberspace – is a critical issue for all businesses. Cyber security will only become more important as more devices, ‘the internet of things’, become connected to the internet. Cyber Security Theme will address the challenges faced by sensitive organizations and suggest measures to neutralise such threats.

Diplomacy and International Politics theme examines the future of diplomacy and conflict prevention, and also supports research and teaching on global political relations through initiatives on the Middle East, the Gulf, and South Asia.

The Peace and War Theme comprises addresses the most recent research and analysis on current battlegrounds shared by NATO and international security forces. It provides a deep insight into the issues behind the wars and provide peace initiatives and directives to the Governments and other peace keeping institutions.

Hybrid warfare is a military strategy that employs political warfare and blends conventional warfare, irregular warfare and cyberwarfare with other influencing methods, such as fake news, diplomacy, lawfare and foreign electoral intervention. By combining kinetic operations with subversive efforts, the aggressor intends to avoid attribution or retribution. Hybrid warfare can be used to describe the flexible and complex dynamics of the battlespace requiring a highly adaptable and resilient response.

As a result of the overwhelming preoccupation with uncovering the process of radicalization into terrorist activity, little attention has been paid to the related, yet distinct processes of disengagement and Deradicalization from terrorism. British Government has launched its Prevent Duty that is aimed at countering radicalisation and extremism. Deradicalization Theme will suggest practical steps to the Government and other respective authorities on eradicating extremism from the community and stopping radicalization in order to combat terrorism.
